thanks for the recommendation. A local repository would be a misnomer for
me, since the developers that are not at a common location and do not share
a local network. I guess I am using enterprisy tools but do not work for an
enterprise. Most projects I work on end up referencing at least 1 open
source project that is not in a public repository or other internal
software. I need to do one of the following:

   1. have each developer manually install the jars in their local
   repository
   2. Set up multiple project build and build all the jars from source.
   3. Set up a server on the internet to host a maven repository
   4. get a hosted private repository, from artifactory, or  nexus).

Did I miss any options?
