With JavaOne and Oracle together, 45,000 Attendees!!!

Took over Moscone North, Moscone South, closed off and tented the
street between them, Moscone West, Parc 55 Hotel, Hilton and
Nikko, and closed off Mason and tented between them.  Signs on
sidewalks to help you get from one to another.

Three exhibition halls, no room big enough for all.  Massive parties,
take a look at the line up (PIC) for the big party on Treasure Island tonight
(yes an island in the bay!)   Imagine the logistics of moving 40,000
people to a remote site, or even feeding this group lunch every day!
Lunch for a decent sized city.

Only Larry Ellison would have the main entry covered with models of
his America's Cup winning boat, with the well guarded America's Cup
trophy on display (PIC) and even an America's Cup giftshop!!

The big Oracle push, naturally since the purchase
of Sun - is Oracle is now your Hardware/Software solution.  Announced
this new box, along with displaying the glitz of hardware - the original 4
Ironman suits from the movie.

Can join 8 systems balanced together on Infiniband network with
up to 8 petabytes storage!

Major slam of Salesforce, how they are not really Cloud, since can't scale
with 1500 Dell pc's running single databases.  Benioff had session later
and said wanted to make peace with Ellison, and brought, unsurprisingly,
Michael Dell on stage.  His focus was Chatter - pretty much all fluff
presentation
and how Ellison help his cloud book sales.  Yawn.

Fusion Application - after 5 years of development, one fusion application with
Oracle IT and their purchases of Siebel, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards.
ALL JAVA!   Business Intelligence, built in social networking, collaboration,
all on one set of middleware.

Like all meetings, will be coming home with work to do on possible reporting
solutions, JPA updates and tuning, etc, etc.   Always more work returning from
a conference!
