That's why I asked first. I didn't want to dive into wild speculation, but I want to talk about what we know and what it means. Any talk of splitting the vm userbase seems very dangerous. Lack of fragmentation, vendor homogeneity and reliability of the platform being supported are often stated reasons why companies still trust Windows over Linux. C# over Java. 

My concern is that this doesn't help. And simply from the standpoint of stating relevant it has me learning new languages or getting better with Python, etc. Maybe even picking up a copy of Windows and installing Microsoft tools to learn them.

While I can choose the software I develop with on personal projects, my startup, etc. I fear I will soon have to consider a world where Java is less regarded in the boardroom.
