Verrryyyy interesting.

Sounds like Oracle
- actually wants to kill Kenai ( ... so when that happens, everyone
moves their project to SourceForge?)
- is fighting over what to do with GlassFish (it's good and that makes
our webelogic look bad?)
- is unsure what to do about NetBeans (it's good and it's used, but
we'd rather have them pay for JDeveloper!)
I like the idea of a sensible hyperthreading VM. Let guys who are
actually good engineers write that code instead of leaving it to guys
like me to first mess it up royally in the application and then later
try to clean up what others have written to do it. J
I'd sure hate to see GF disappear. It's a great tool. Whether it would
remain great if taken independent from the fount of Java Standards is an
interesting question.
Netbeans seems to have some kind of jinx or curse. This is what, about
the fourth or fifth time they've been swallowed and then spit out?
Somehow they survive and get better with each incarnation though. Hope
Oracle has enough sense to keep and support a tool that a lot of
colleges are using to teach a new generation how to write code.
Ken said:
If anyone is hiring and doesn't mind remote employees, I can give you
some great names (no head hunters).
Wish I were filthy rich and running a shop to hire 'em. Any chance
anyone could land on one of the other Oracle projects? One of those
links said that Ellison said (great ... FOAF argument) they'd be hiring
2000 engineers. If they're not all in China and India, you might have
some luck relocating within the megacorporation.
Is this altering anyone's JavaOne plans for this year?
