Hi there folks,
Jama Software, one of the rising start-ups in Portland, is on the prowl for good J2EE developers. We are a close-knit group that learns a lot from each other and finds ways to get the job done, having fun and collecting awards along the way. Our Contour application is a J2EE web app with a rich UI built on top of the ExtJS framework. It was spotlighted last spring by the founders of ExtJS in their blog: http://www.extjs.com/blog/2008/03/31/implementation-spotlight-jama-contour/
Companies use Contour to help them build great products, and it's now being used by a growing number of innovative teams who are fired up about where we are going with it. You can read a few of their stories here and learn about some of the cool projects being scoped and managed within Contour: http://www.jamasoftware.com/customers
Here's a quick rundown of what we are looking for:
- Solid J2EE development experience, preferably with some Spring and Hibernate or the like
- Javascript, preferably some experience with ExtJS (or similar JS UI framework)
- Web 2.0 UI design and development experience, including working with AJAX and Web Services
- SQL and various and sundry DB server technologies
- Ability to solve complex problems with simple, elegant solutions
More details can be found on the Jama Software careers page http://www.jamasoftware.com/were-jama/careers.php
Here's why you might want to work at Jama:
- We believe the smartest person in the room is everyone, thus every employee has a voice and will contribute ideas
- We build our software using open standards and an agile methodology, and we use our own app in the process
- We love Portland and our staff supports local organizations and events
- We donate loans to Kiva.org, because we believe in supporting the entrepreneurial spirit in everyone
- We love to bike to work and encourage others to do the same
- We print more t-shirts than brochures and our marketing team invests more in developing industry cred than advertising: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/ditching_adwords_for_kiva.php
- We host team outings, friendly competitions and a collaborative environment
- We believe in working hard, but enjoying the journey: http://www.jamasoftware.com/fun
Jama is not your typical start-up, we're well beyond the initial idea phase. We have revenue, we're well-funded, and we're doubling our growth every year. We have a successful product and a 98% customer renewal rate. But, we're just getting started. We have big, hairy, audacious goals and need more smart, high-integrity, hard-working people to add to our team. Let us know if you think you belong at Jama. Let's build great products!
BTW, Jama is an Oregon Angel Funded company, winner of the Bend Venture Conference in 2008 and recent winner of Oregon Entrepreneurs Network Company of the Year Award in 2009. Some good local karma never hurt, right?
Thanks for listening, and please contact me if you are interested in joining the team. We welcome direct inquiries from qualified candidates, but unfortunately we aren't in a position to engage with recruiters and agencies at this time.
Cheers!
Frank
