Position: Principal Applications Engineer

Duration: Through Dec 2009

Type: Contract

Location: Beaverton, OR

We're seeking a Senior Application Engineer with a solid background in
front-end application engineering to work in our fast paced and dynamic
environment supporting the Global online Premium Services business.  You
will collaborate with other developers and architects as well as our
business partners to design, develop and deliver solutions that meet and
exceed the requirements both from a functional standpoint as well as a
systems performance perspective.  You will have the chance to become a
key member of the team enabling the services business to grow and expand
its global PC service offerings.  This team member must demonstrate
solid understanding of rich application development in Java and
preferably Flex, as well as a strong UI design background.  

Additional duties include researching and understanding new web
technologies to provide technical solutions in developing Premium
Service applications and analyzing business requirements as they pertain
to business goals and objectives.  Provide written design documents,
functional specifications, and unit/harness test cases and test results.
Manage, develop, integrate and implements related application
components.  Additionally be responsible for maintaining and enhancing
multiple applications, building IT standards, and promoting industry
best practices. You must be passionate and driven to deliver best in
class solutions that will drive the business into the future. Your work
in providing critical development capabilities for the Premium Service
business will help us optimize and enhance our consumer business as we
continue to evolve and grow.

SKILLS

-        5-8 years IT technical experience in web application
development

-        4-5 years web development experience using Java or Flash (more
focus on Actionscripting than Timeline)

-        3-5 years web development experience using Flex (Flex 2.0
preferred), 

-        Strong technical knowledge of current Internet systems
software, protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, XML, SOAP,
Web Services and Service-Oriented Architectures

-        Proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT web
solutions for customers through a disciplined Development Methodology
that leveraged various roles (for example BSAs, Project Managers) 

-        Knowledge of web application servers (i.e. Weblogic, Apache) is
preferred 

-        Excellent communication skills in both formal and informal
settings 

-        Ability to confer with end-users, clients, or senior management
to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure
development 

-        Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure
environment 

-        Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative
environment 

-        Experience defining global technology, IT architectures and
applications to support global consumer support solutions is preferred.

-        Desire to use cutting edge technologies.

EDUCATION

-        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field 

-        2 years additional experience in lieu of a degree

partners to design, develop and deliver solutions that meet and exceed
the requirements both from a functional standpoint as well as a systems

development.
