Hi all,

Steve Mayzak asks:
" I am curious to find out what the pjug members think
" about the new Maintenance Policy announcement from
" SpringSource today.

"
" My gut reaction is disappointment. On the plus side, this
" may be the reason I was looking for to try EJB 3!!

Shrug. I don't feel too badly about it. This is maintenance for
Enterprise users. Companies who signup for Enterprise versions of
things also available as free and open source items expect to pay for
service (rather than maintain it themselves.) Companies who want to
customize and maintain this layer themselves have already either done so
themselves or by using the open-source versions.

And as you point out, there is at least one good and viable alternative
and directly-competitive framework available.

The side-effects might be interesting though. What does it mean for
(for instance) JBoss?
