[PJUG Javamail] Netbeans Performance

I don't want to start a IDE flame war, I have an honest question....
I have been looking at Netbeans 6 for a while now because my beloved
JBuilder is dead. (Its an Eclipse Frankenstein now)
Netbeans 6 looks really cool.  It has many of the features that have kept me
on JBuilder for all these years.
The trouble is it is SLOW.  And I dont mean a little bit.  I mean unusably
slow.
Everyone at my company has tried the new Netbeans and has had the same
experience.
Are there any tips out there for performance tuning?  Some simple thing I am
missing.  Some feature I should turn off?

For you Eclipse lovers, I am looking at Eclipse too (again).
