I saw a job listing on PJUG recently that required that the developer
be "Proficient in ... Visual Cafe ..."
I thought that Visual Cafe disappeared around 2002. I used the 1.0
version briefly in 1997 when it first became available. Is it being
sold anywhere (still or again)? I don't want to buy a copy, but I am
impressed that people are still using it productively 4 years after I
thought it disappeared from the market.
I did some web searching and found that Visual Cafe was spun out by
Symantec under WebGain in 2000, which then sold it to TogetherSoft in
2002, which was then acquired by Borland in 2003. WebGain is no
longer in business (webgain.com domain name is available for
purchase) and the Borland site does not list Visual Cafe, although
Borland's 2006 datasheet for SilkTest says that it is compatible with
"Symantec Visual Cafe". PCConnection.com does not list Visual Cafe
as a product for sale.
